This short story starts with the pirate ship, the Conger Eel, impaled on a sharp pinnacle of rock, mid ocean. The story unfolds from there.

Initial idea for The Yellow Creature, an almost Dr. Suess like character who happily becomes the crew's mascot after it is discovered on a nearby island.

Captain Slaughterboard was blood thirsty yet an 'aesthete' who, on occasion, was known to sacrifice crew members to appease the mood of the ocean. This poor elderly pirate met his end after walking the plank in the moonlight, wrapped in a vermillion flag.

He was Mr. Gunner... his entire body was so covered with tattoo marks, that he was a purple/blue colour from head to foot. His forehead was a perfect forrest of palm trees, where coconuts and fronds impinged upon a setting sun whose halos and radiations covered a naked cranium.
